Singer who is known as actor Jerry Lewis ' first wife. They were married from 1944 to 1980 and shared six children. She filed for divorce citing "an open disregard for our marriage" and his frequent spending. She requested $450,000 per year in the divorce.

She met Lewis while she was working as a singer with Jimmy Dorsey 's orchestra. They married three months later.

She performed with the Ted Fio Rio Orchestra. In 1993, she published a memoir titled I Laffed Till I Cried: Thirty-six Years of Marriage to Jerry Lewis.

Her children were named Gary Lewis , Ronald, Scott, Christopher, Anthony, and Joseph.

A year after marrying Jerry Lewis, her husband met Dean Martin who became his long-time collaborator.
