ABOUT PAUL CHAMBERS
Considered a double bass virtuoso, he was a constant presence in 1950s and 1960s rhythm sections.
He was trained by a bassist in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and moved to New York to work with Paul Quinichette.
He performed with the Miles Davis Quintet for almost a decade.
He grew up in Detroit.
Chambers had many works composed for him, including "Paul's Pal" by Sonny Rollins .
