In 1984, she graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

She has developed and organized event experiences for corporate and charitable organizations. She has also lead fundraising efforts for numerous local nonprofit organizations.

She and her husband have two daughters named Kathryn and Kelly.
