He earned his bachelor's in theatre from the University of Hull in Scarborough.

He wrote the bestselling novel Tricks to Freak Out Your Friends. In it he teaches the every-day person how to crack one's own nose and how to take a bite out of a glass.

He was born in Middlesbrough, England.

He and soccer player Lewis Hawkins both grew up in Middlesbrough.
