ABOUT PETER KATIN
Known for his superb technical prowess on the piano and for his mastery of Romantic and Impressionist music.
He was permitted entrance into the Royal Academy of Music when he was 12, four years earlier than the Academy normally allowed.
He served as the inspiration for composer Bryan Kelly's composition Tango from 1961.
His family noticed his musical abilities by the time he was four.
His presentation of Sergei Rachmaninoff 's Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor at the Proms in 1953 was highly acclaimed.
