ABOUT PETER KREIS
He is best known for dying during a crash while practicing at the 1934 Indianapolis 500.
He had a successful career as a contractor, and eventually decided to take one month off each year to race in the Indy 500.
He was with his riding mechanic, Robert Hahn, when he crashed; Hahn also died.
He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee.
He belongs to a long list of drivers who have died while racing, along with people such as Dale Earnhardt .
