ABOUT PETER PELLEGRINI

Slovak politician who became the 6th President of Slovakia in June 2024. When he began his incumbency as President, he became the first-ever Slovak politician to have held all three of the highest constitutional posts.

He attended Matej Bel University and the Technical University of Košice, where he studied economics and finance. After graduating, he began his career working as an economist before joining the Direction - Social Democracy party.

He has been decorated with several national honors including the Pribina Cross, the Milan Rastislav Štefánik Cross, and the Order of Andrej Hlinka . His former positions include high-ranking roles including Prime Minister and Speaker of the National Council.

His great-grandfather Leopoldo Pellegrini of Salter contributed to the railway construction between Levice and Zvolen. He has a pet dog named Gery, whose name was inspired by a character from the fantasy series The Witcher .

While serving as Prime Minister of Slovakia, he served under former President Andrej Kiska . Throughout his own Presidential incumbency, Robert Fico served as Prime Minister.
