ABOUT PETRONEL MALAN
One of South Africa's greatest pianists and one of the youngest people to come in first at the SABC Music Prize Competition.
She was only 10 when she debuted with the Johannesburg Symphony, winning her first national gold medal in the ATKV Prelude Competitions when she was 12 and her first international gold at Sicily's Third International Piano Competition when she was 14.
She was named among South Africa's 10 Most Inspirational Women Achievers in 2003.
She was born into a political family, although her mother was an opera singer who was her first piano teacher.
Her 2006 album Transfigured Mozart was released to coincide with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 's 250th birthday.
