Minnesota-born woman most famous for being the former wife of actor Rock Hudson , whom she married in 1955. The marriage fell apart three years later after she discovered that Hudson had had an affair with another man.

She grew up on a farm and later moved to Hollywood, where she met Hudson while working as the secretary for the actor's agent.

She became a successful interior decorator following her divorce from Hudson in 1958.

She had a sister named Marvis Ketelsen and a brother named Russell Gates.

Her marriage was depicted in the 1990 television movie Rock Hudson, where she was portrayed by actress Daphne Ashbrook .
