
Pierre Cartellier
ABOUT PIERRE CARTELLIER
French sculptor who made monuments and statues in France. He made a twice life-size sculpture of General Valhubert.
He studied at the École Gratuite de Dessin in Paris and then in the studio of Charles-Antoine Bridan.
His best known work was his monument for the Empress Joséphine, commissioned by Eugène and Hortense de Beauharnais.
He and his wife had one daughter and they were all buried together.
He taught at the École des Beaux-Arts where Raymond Hood studied.
