ABOUT POVL SONDERGAARD
Danish sculptor who made lifelike busts, female figures, and monuments, including Memorial to the Fallen, located in Bispebjerg Cemetery.
He attended the Technical School and then studied sculpture under Einar Utzon-Frank at the Danish Academy.
His best known work may be Memorial to the Fallen in Bispebjerg Cemetery.
He was the son of the painter Ole Søndergaard.
He and Harriet Hosmer are both sculptors known for the realism of their busts.
