ABOUT RAND BEERS

Politician who became the United States Secretary of Homeland Security in 2013.

He earned a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and a master's degree from the University of Michigan before serving as a Marine officer and rifle company commander in Vietnam.

He was appointed Undersecretary of Homeland Security for National Protection and Programs by Bill Clinton in 1998.

He was raised in Washington D.C.

He served as national security advisor for John Kerry during the 2004 Presidential elections.
