Former baseball announcer known as "The Ol' Redhead."
He attended the University of Florida to study education.
He called plays for the Brooklyn Dodgers for fourteen years, and almost as long for the New York Yankees.
He married Lylah Scarborough on March 28, 1931.
He appeared on the NPR show "Morning Edition," hosted by Bob Edwards .
