ABOUT RICHARD EYRE
Olivier Award-winning theatre and opera director who also directed the Oscar-winning film Iris starring Kate Winslet .
He was Associate Director at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, from 1967 to 1972.
His diaries from his time with the UK's National Theatre were published under the title National Service and won the 2003 Theatre Book Prize.
He married writer and producer Sue Birtwistle in 1973.
His 2001 film Irish earned Jim Broadbent an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
