Richard Rufus

ABOUT RICHARD RUFUS

Defender who played for only one team, Charlton Athletic, from 1993 to 2004.

He played his youth soccer at The Valley, and also was a member of England's U21 team.

He scored his first goal during the 1997-98 season in a playoff final; it tied the game with five minutes left. Charlton ultimately won on penalties, and the team was promoted.

He married Simone Rufus in 2004.

He developed a close friendship with fellow soccer player Darren Moore that extended into both players' retirements.
