ABOUT RICHARD SPECK

Mass murderer who killed eight Chicago student nurses on July 14, 1966. After having his death sentence overturned, he died in prison of a heart attack.

He lived at over ten addresses in various poor neighborhoods while growing up with his mother and alcoholic stepfather.

He received a death sentence that was later reversed to life in prison after the U.S. Supreme Court deemed the death penalty unconstitutional in Furman vs. Georgia.

He was the second of eight children born to Benjamin Franklin Speck and Mary Margaret Carbaugh Speck.

His last name was referenced in the stage name of Zsa Zsa Speck, a one-time keyboardist for Marilyn Manson .
