He began a drag-racing career at age 14.

He led his racing team to over 1,400 NASCAR top-10 finishes.

He had two children, Ricky and Lynn, with wife Linda Hendrick.

He opened up two car dealerships with NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.
