At the age of seventeen, he began his skateboarding career with Blockhead Skateboards.

The fakie frontside big spin heelflip is named the Rick Flip or Howard Heel.

He was raised in Canada and moved to California when he was 15.

He formed a new company named Girl Skateboards with Spike Jonze .
