Illinois-born man best known for being the great-grandson of assassinated United States President Abraham Lincoln . He was considered the last living undisputed descendant of Abraham Lincoln. He never confirmed paternity for any child, at least publicly.

He was a private man who worked as a gentleman farmer and lived most of his life in Vermont and Washington, D.C. He was an avid sailor and had his own private farm as part of his inheritance.
