ABOUT ROBERT BLOCKER

Became the Dean of the Yale School of Music in July 1995. He also served as Yale's Professor of Piano and Adjunct Professor of Management.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968 from Furman University and acquired a Master of Music in 1970. He earned his Doctorate of Musical Arts in 1972 from the University of North Texas College of Music.

He briefly took time away from his tenure at Yale to serve as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, from 2005 until 2006.

He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Albert Blocker.

His piano professor at the University of North Texas College of Music, Richard Brannan Cass, had studied with Nadia Boulanger at the National School of Music of Paris.
