ABOUT ROBERT S. KERR
Petroleum tycoon turned Democratic politician who was the 12th Governor of Oklahoma from 1943 to 1947. He also served as a US Senator from 1949 to 1963.
He joined the army during World War I.
As a teenager, he taught Sunday school classes at a Baptist church and shunned alcohol use. He transformed the Arkansas River into navigable inland waterway system.
He had four children with his wife Grayce Breene.
He helped President John F. Kennedy make many decisions around irrigation, taxes and land use.
