ABOUT ROBIN DAY
English political commentator and TV and radio host who rose to fame through his work with the Independent Television News. He was also on the BBC radio on the show It's Your Line from 1970 to 1976.
He served in the British Army in East Africa for five years and subsequently studied law at Oxford.
He was the host of Question Time and Panorama on TV and of The World at One on the radio during the 1970s and 1980s.
He married Katherine Ainslie in 1965, and the couple had two children before ending their marriage in 1986.
He was the first English journalist to secure a post-Suez Crisis interview with Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser .
