ABOUT ROSE SCOTT
Australian women's rights leader known for advocating for women's suffrage and universal suffrage in the early 20th century. She founded the Women's Political Education League in 1902.
She began inviting people to a weekly salon in 1882. She founded the Women's Literary Society in 1889 which later grew into Womanhood Suffrage League of New South Wales in 1891.
She held the position of President of the Women's Political Education League from 1902 to 1910. The group successfully campaigned to raised the age of consent to 16. She was an Anglican pacifist.
She was born to Helenus Scott and Sarah Ann Scott. She was the fifth of eight children. She was the granddaughter of Scottish physician Helenus Scott.
She was influenced by Joan of Arc at an early age.
