ABOUT RUBENS MENIN
Brazilian billionaire entrepreneur best known as the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of MRV Engenharia, which is Brazil's premiere low-income housing builder as well as the largest residential real estate developer in Latin America. He has also launched or headed business ventures including Banco Inter, LOG Commerical Properties, the Menin Douro Estates winery, CNN Brasil, and RĂ¡dio Itatiaia.
He graduated from the Federal University of Minas Gerais with a degree in civil engineering in 1978 before going on to establish MRV in 1979. The company is noted for allowing millions of Brazilian residents to afford their first homes.
He became the first South American recipient of Ernst & Young's World Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2018.
His son Rafael and nephew Eduardo Fischer have served as co-CEOs of MRV, while his daughter Maria has also served as the company's Chief Legal Officer. He and his wife are the parents of three children together.
He and Flavio Augusto da Silva are both notable Brazilian entrepreneurs.
