American blues singer who recorded twenty one sides from 1938 to 1947. She has recorded several cover songs in addition to her own including the song, Draggin' My Heart Around by Alex Hill.
She joined her aunt by marriage, singer, Bessie Smith on tour in 1924 and helped with costume changes and danced during itermissions.
Her birth name was Ruby Walker but she later changed it to Ruby Smith.
She was born to her family in New York.
She was the niece of famed blues singer Bessie Smith .
