ABOUT RUFUS REID

Jazz bassist and bandleader who played for Dexter Gordon , Stan Getz , and Eddie Harris . He is also an author and released The Evolving Bassist in 1974.

He was a trumpet player for the United States Air Force. Afterwards, he graduated from Northwestern University with a music degree.

In 2001, he was recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award from The International Society of Bassists.

He had a son, Michel, with his wife Doris.

He recorded with Jack DeJohnette on Album Album.
