ABOUT RUTH CLEVELAND
Namesake of the Baby Ruth chocolate bars and daughter of US President Grover Cleveland . The candy bar was known as Kandy Kake from 1900 to 1921, and the bar was renamed in 1921.
She attended Miss Fine's School before she was diagnosed with diphtheria, which caused her death.
Baby Ruth candy bars consist of a nougat center covered by chocolate with peanuts.
Her father and mother were Grover Cleveland and first lady Frances Cleveland. She had four other siblings.
It has long been speculated that the candy bar is actually named in honor of Babe Ruth . However, the owner of the Curtiss Candy Company, Otto Schnering, insisted it was named after the president's daughter. This may have been to avoid owing Ruth any compensation for using the name.
