Longtime actress who co-starred with Bud Cort in Harold and Maude and portrayed Minnie Castevet in Rosemary's Baby. In 1941, she played Mary Todd Lincoln in Abe Lincoln in Illinois.
She studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Her role in Rosemary's Baby earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Also a writer, she earned three Academy Award nominations for her screenplays.
Her parents are Annie Tapley and Clinton Jones.
She starred in the Clint Eastwood -directed film Every Which Way But Loose.
