ABOUT SAM SUNDERLAND

British motorcycle racer who is known for his success in the discipline of rally raid. He won the 2017 Dakar Rally in the motorcycle category. He also participated in other prominent rally raid events, such as the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge and the Morocco Rally.

He began his professional motorcycle racing career in motocross before transitioning to rally raid events.

He is the first British rider to win the Dakar Rally. In the year 2018 for the Dakar Rally, Sam won stages one and three before crashing out in stage four. The 2019 Dakar Rally saw Sam winning stages five and seven, and finishing 3rd overall. In the year 2020, Sam crashed out with an injury in stage five while racing in Saudi Arabia.
