ABOUT SAM YATES
Film and stage director who has earned a reputation for his diverse body of work starring notable talents. His work in theatre includes critically acclaimed pieces such as Glengarry Glen Ross starring Christian Slater and The Starry Messenger starring Matthew Broderick .
He grew up in Stockport, Manchester and graduated from Poynton High School in Chesire. He later studied English at Homerton College of the University of Cambridge . He made his directing debut in 2005, with a stage production of the William Shakespeare play Macbeth: The Hour at C Venues in Edinburgh Fringe Theatre.
In the year 2016, he was named a Star of Tomorrow by Screen International. He has also been named a Rising Star by The Observer and included in GQ Magazine's esteemed list of Men of the Next 25 Years. He has also directed music videos for the band Bear's Den and films such as Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar and Magpie.
He was born and raised in the United Kingdom.
He directed the 2023 film Magpie, which was written by actor Tom Bateman and starred Daisy Ridley and Shazad Latif .
