American criminal who attempted to assassinate U.S. President Gerald Ford in 1975. She received a life sentence but was released from prison in 2007 after serving thirty-two years behind bars.
She was a nursing student and a Women's Army Corps recruit.
Her story was dramatized in the 1990 Stephen Sondheim musical Assassins.
She had four children and was divorced five times.
She attempted to assassinate the President just seventeen days after Lynette Fromme tried to do the same.
