ABOUT SCATMAN CROTHERS
Drummer, scat singer, and actor who appeared in the 1980 horror film The Shining and did voice-overs for animated shows like Transformers and The Harlem Globetrotters.
He came up with his nickname on the fly when auditioning at a Dayton radio station. His first band was a local Terre Haute speakeasy band.
He was Scat Cat in the animated Disney movie The Aristocats.
He married Helen Crothers in 1937 and they had one child together.
He was good friends with and often co-starred with Jack Nicholson , including in The Shining.
