ABOUT SERGIO CASTRO
Mexican humanitarian who founded the Yok Chij Asociacion, with whom he has helped to build more than thirty schools and assisted the needy in acquiring proper health-related services. He is the recipient of the prestigious Medal of Merit Sancristobalense for his humanitarian efforts.
He was an agronomy student when he moved to Chiapas in the late 60's.
He is fluent in an amazing number of languages, including Spanish, French, Italian, English and Mayan.
He has been married and is the father of seven children.
He and Norman Borlaug are two humanitarians known for their work in Mexico.
