ABOUT SHAKA KING
Director whose 2021 film Judas and the Black Messiah was featured at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.
He grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Vassar College, then entered into a graduate film program at NYU 's Tisch School of the Arts.
His first feature film, Newlyweeds, debuted at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
He was born in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and grew up mostly in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Both of his parents were public schoolteachers.
He co-wrote Judas and the Black Messiah with Kenny and Keith Lucas .
