He began his career driving the #85 Lube America Chevy for Stegell Motorsports.

He is an unlockable driver in the 2003 EA Sports Video Game NASCAR Thunder 2003.

He had two children, Shane Jr. and Dylan, with his wife Michelle.

He competed in the 2008 Federated Auto Parts 300, which was won by Brad Keselowski .
