ABOUT SHARICE DAVIDS
Politician who rose to fame after the 2018 mid-term elections after which she became one of the first Native American woman to serve in Congress along with Deb Haaland. She was elected to represent Kansas' 3rd congressional district.
She became a professional MMA fighter in 2013 and holds a 1:1 win/loss record.
She graduated from Cornell Law School and went on to work direct community and economic development for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, as well as opening up her own coffee shop.
She is a member of the Ho-Chunk nation and her maternal grandfather was originally born into the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans.
She defeated incumbent candidate Brent Welder who was endorsed by Bernie Sanders .
