Also known as Martin Luther King Jr. 's Smallest Freedom Fighter, she co-wrote Selma, Lord, Selma and marched in 1965's Bloody Sunday.
As one of the first black students to attend an all-white school, she was pushed down the stairs and spit on.
She was the youngest person to attempt the 54-mile march to Montgomery, Alabama.
She ditched school to attend meetings led by Dr. Martin Luther King , Jr., despite warnings from her parents.
Her book became a Walt Disney movie titled Selma, Lord, Selma.
