ABOUT SIDDHARTHA SHANKAR RAY

Chief Minister of West Bengal from 1972 to 1977, who was also the ambassador of India to the US from 1992 to 1996. He also served as the Governor of Punjab from 1986 to 1989.

He was secretary of various school departments, such as Student's Aid Fund and Debate.

He was captain of the Presidency College cricket team that won the Inter-Collegiate Cricket Championship in 1944.

His father, Sudhir Kumar Ray, was a barrister of Calcutta High Court.

He was succeeded as Chief Minister of West Bengal by Jyoti Basu in 1977.
