ABOUT STEPHANIE HERSETH SANDLIN
First female, and youngest Democratic U.S. Representative for South Dakota's at-large congressional district from 2004 until 2011.
She earned her B.A. from Georgetown University in 1993 and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1997.
At the time she was elected she was the youngest female member of the House, and she was also the first woman to be elected to the House of Representatives from South Dakota.
She married former Texas Congressman Max Sandlin in 2007 and has one child.
She endorsed Barack Obama for President of the United States in 2008.
