ABOUT STEPHEN DANIEL CRAINEY

Scottish former professional soccer player, athlete, and soccer assistant manager known for most notably playing left-back for Blackpool, Celtic, and Wigan Athletic teams and for being the assistant manager for the Bolton Wanderers. He stands five feet, nine inches tall.

He began playing soccer at a young age. He played with the Lenzie Youth Club. He started playing soccer professionally with the Celtic Football Club in 1997. He played for the Celtics until 2004 and then began playing for several different leagues until he began playing for Blackpool FC in 2007.

He played a key role in helping Blackpool achieve promotion to the Premier League during the 2009-2010 season. He was part of Blackpool's team in their single Premier League season (2010-2011). He also represented Scotland at the international level and earned 12 caps with his national team.

He was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland.

He played alongside Jackie McNamara and Neil Lennon on the Celtics. He played alongside Charlie Adam for Blackpool in 2010.
