ABOUT STEVE REED
British Labour and Co-operative Party politician who began serving as a Member of Parliament for Croydon North in 2012. He was named one of the most influential council leaders in Britain by the Local Government Chronicle in 2011.
He studied English at Sheffield University.
During his time as leader of the Lambeth Council, the Lambeth borough went from having a one star ranking by the Audit Commission in 2006 to having a three-star ranking by 2009.
His family worked at Odhams printing factory in Watford.
He was appointed a Shadow Home Office Minister by Labour Leader Ed Miliband in October 2013.
