ABOUT SUSAN CASTILLO

Former Superintendent of Public Instruction for the state of Oregon that was in office from January 1997 to January 2003. Prior to her career in politics, she worked at KVAL-TV as a journalist.

She graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in communications.

She made history becoming the first women of Latin descent to be seated in the Oregon's state senate.

She grew up living with her family in Los Angeles, California.

She is an alum of the University of Oregon just like Chang-Rae Lee .
