American documentary producer and writer known as the daughter of actress Diahann Carroll and jazz producer Monte Kay .

She earned a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University .

She wrote and produced the critically acclaimed 2000 short film Hero.

She was married to film director and screenwriter Mark Bamford from 1996 to 2016. They have two children together.

She worked alongside Greg Kinnear and Julie Moran for the E! entertainment channel.
