ABOUT SYBIL SMITH
Most well known as the mother of American tennis champion Sloane Stephens .
She was a swimmer at Boston University in 1988. She was inducted into the university's hall of fame in 1993.
She was the first African-American woman to be named First Team All-American in Division I history.
She and former New England Patriots runningback John Stephens had a daughter named Sloane but would divorce when she was still a baby. She would remarry to Sheldon Farrel and the couple had a son, Shawn, who became a baseball and football player.
Her daughter gained media attention whens he began dating U.S. soccer player Jozy Altidore .
