ABOUT TAMARA LEVITT
Author, writer, and mindfulness instructor best known for narrating the Calm app. In 2014, she became the app's Head of Mindfulness. She authored children's books including Happiness Doesn't Come From Headstands and The Secret to Clara's Calm.
By 14, she had developed anxiety, depression and an eating disorder. She was a punk rocker who wore black lipstick, combat boots, and a purple mohawk.
At 18, she discovered the benefits of meditation at an eating disorders centre in Toronto. She explored Theravada and Mahayana Buddhist teachings, as well as Vipassana, Shambhala, and Zen. She also wrote, illustrated, and produced the short film Ode To Failure.
She is from Canada.
As a child, she named her cat Babs after Barbra Streisand .
