ABOUT TAPAN SINHA
One of the great Indian directors of his time. He was known for films like Kabuliwala, Louha-Kapat, Sagina Mahato, and Safed Haathi.
He began his film career as a sound engineer with New Theatres film production house.
He won the President's Gold Medal for the All India Best Feature Film in 1956 for his film Kabuliwala.
His son was scientist Anindya Sinha.
He and Ritwik Ghatak were considered two of the greatest Indian directors of the 1950s and 1960s.
