The son of former Today show co-host Matt Lauer and Dutch model Annette Roque.

His parents were set up on a blind date in 1997 and would be married the following year.

His mother filed for divorce from his father while pregnant with him, however his parents reconciled a month before he was born.

He has two older siblings: a brother named Jack and and sister named Romy.

His father's colleagues Katie Couric , Ann Curry , and Jeff Zucker were all in attendance at his parents' wedding in 1998.
