He played for his stepfather at Hamilton High School in Memphis, Tennessee.

He became the all-time leading scorer at his alma mater, University of Arkansas.

Grew up in Decatur, Illinois with his mother and stepfather.

He tied the record set by Larry Bird for the most points scored in a fourth quarter by a Boston Celtic with 24 in game during the 1995-96 season.
