ABOUT TOM MAJOR-BALL

Father of former British Prime Minister John Major who rose to fame as a noted circus performer.

He moved with his family to the U.S. when he was five and worked in vaudeville.

He toured all over the UK during the height of his circus career.

His son, Sir John Major , was the Prime Minister from 1990 to 1997.

He may have inspired David Bowie 's Major Tom character in the song Space Oddity.
