Retired center-back that played soccer professionally in countries such as Prague, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic during his eighteen year career. He is primarily known for his time with the Italian Serie A team ACF Fiorentina during the mid 2000s. He has also played for the Czech Republic men's national team during his professional career.
He initially began his soccer career playing with the TJ Rýmařov youth squad. He was only ten years old at the time.
He played in 461 matches during his professional club career. He also played in 78 international matches during his career.
He is a native of Rýmařov, Czech Republic. He and his ex-wife, Kateřina, were married from 1999 until 2007.
He once played for Atlético Madrid during his professional club career just like Antoine Griezmann .
